Years ago, we had the best month our business had ever had. We were thrilled. Then we did what most owners do: we spent like every month would look like that one.
The next few months were slow. We dipped into savings, and the stress showed up at our kitchen table. Then tax time came, and we owed $67,000 we hadn't set aside.
The problem wasn't how much we earned. It was that our paycheck went up and down with the business.
So we changed one thing. We started paying ourselves a set salary on the same day every month, and left the rest in the business to cover slow months and taxes. That one change has done more for our peace with money than anything else.

Your diagnosis. Three different problems hide behind “my income is all over the place,” and only one of them is what most people assume. You'll leave knowing which one you have, and what to work on first.
